Ramgarh Protest Demands Land Recovery and Security

Residents of Ramgarh in Khagrachari organized a human chain and protest march on Friday demanding the recovery of local lands and enhanced security for the Bengali community.

Organized by the Guchchagram Bhumi Raksha Committee the rally took place at Ramgarh Bazar. Protesters issued a seven-day ultimatum to the local administration to recover occupied lands and ensure the safety of Guchchagram residents warning of stricter demonstrations if authorities fail to act.

Key speakers at the event included Jalal Ahmed President of the Parbatya Yuba Parishad's Khagrachari district branch Yunus Bhuiyan Ramgarh branch president; Abu Bakkar Siddique, Organizing Secretary of the Parbatya Chittagong Chhatra Parishad; and Student Affairs Secretary Charowar Hossain Riyad.

Organizers alleged that tribal families from outside areas—including Batna Shibir, Thana Chandrapara, and Lalchhari—are being forcibly brought in to build settlements on land belonging to Guchchagram villagers. Furthermore, they claimed that the original landowners face physical assaults by armed groups including alleged UPDF members and local land grabbers, when attempting to access their properties.

The protest highlights the ongoing sensitive land dispute tensions in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, with organizers urging immediate administrative intervention to restore order.
