The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has announced a reduction in gold prices across the domestic market, effective from 10:00 AM on Friday July 24.

The price of premium 22-carat gold has dropped by Tk3,324 per bhori (11.664 grams). With this adjustment, buyers will now pay Tk220,858 for one bhori of 22-carat gold. BAJUS attributes this revision to a decline in the local price of pure gold, also known as acid gold. Updated Gold Prices (Per Bhori):

22-carat: Tk220,858 21-carat: Tk210,943 18-carat: Tk181,200 Traditional gold: Tk148,016

Important Guidelines for Buyers To ensure transparency for consumers BAJUS clarified that these retail prices already include Value Added Tax (VAT). Jewellers cannot charge customers any additional VAT on gold ornaments. However making charges are not included in this base rate and will continue to vary depending on the design of the jewellery.

Existing regulations regarding the exchange and purchase of jewellery—excluding specific labour charges VAT and the cost of stones—remain entirely unchanged. These revised rates will stay in effect at all jewellery outlets nationwide until further notice.
