BGB foils BSF push-in attempt along Kushtia border

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully prevented an illegal border crossing attempt by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) along the Kushtia border on Friday morning.

At approximately 5:10 a.m. on July 24, members of the BSF's 146 Battalion from the Char Meghna Camp tried to force eight unidentified individuals to swim across a river into Bangladesh. The group consisted of two men four women and two transgender individuals. The incident occurred near border pillar 152/1-S, under the jurisdiction of the BGB's 47 Battalion at the Joypur Border Observation Post (BOP).

A vigilant BGB patrol team quickly detected the activity. Taking a firm stance, the BGB blocked the group from entering Bangladeshi territory leaving the individuals with no choice but to swim back to the Indian side.

Following the incident the BGB reiterated its strict commitment to maintaining national security. The paramilitary force remains on high alert to prevent illegal intrusions and border violations, pledging to carry out its duties with professionalism to ensure peace along the frontier.
