


A moderate earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale struck different parts of Bangladesh, including the capital, on Friday afternoon.
According to an earthquake occurrence message from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the tremor occurred at 1:52:29 pm (BST). The epicentre was located in Asashuni upazila of Satkhira, about 188 kilometres southwest of the BMD’s seismic centre in Dhaka.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage were available.
Earlier, on Thursday, a mild earthquake of 4.6 magnitude was felt in several parts of the country. Before that, on February 25, another moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 shook Bangladesh.
That quake originated in Myanmar, approximately 462 kilometres east of the BMD seismic centre.
