The push for police reform in Bangladesh has taken a visible step forward with the commencement of the phased distribution of new uniforms across the force.
Starting this Saturday, the Bangladesh Police is transitioning from its familiar blue and green color scheme to a more modern iron-grey uniform.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) spokesperson Talebur Rahman confirmed the initial rollout is selective, prioritizing metropolitan police members before extending the new attire to all police personnel across the range units.
This change is not merely cosmetic; the updated design was authorized by the interim government in response to strong public demand for systemic reform following the political transition last year.
While some station chiefs, like Kazi Rafique Ahmed of Mohammadpur Police, are still awaiting their consignment, the distribution process is underway, signaling the government's commitment to visual and functional modernization within the police service.
