Two people were killed and 12 others injured after a military projectile struck a residential area in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday, according to the General Directorate of Saudi Civil Defense.
Authorities said the victims were expatriates—one from India and one from Bangladesh. The 12 people injured in the incident were all Bangladeshi nationals.
The projectile hit a residential compound used by workers of a maintenance and cleaning company in Al-Kharj Governorate. The strike also caused material damage to the building.
A spokesperson for the Civil Defense said emergency teams quickly responded to the scene and implemented standard safety procedures.
Earlier, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran claimed it had targeted radar systems in several locations, including Al-Kharj, amid the ongoing regional tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran.
Saudi authorities said targeting civilian infrastructure is a clear violation of international humanitarian law.
Following the incident, the Embassy of India in Riyadh issued an advisory urging Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant, follow safety guidelines and monitor instructions from local authorities.
The identities of the victims have not yet been officially released.
