At least 20 people were injured after a passenger bus veered off the road and fell into a ditch in Tungipara, Gopalganj, on Wednesday morning.

The accident took place between 10:30 am and 11:00 am in the Maleker Bazar area on the Gopalganj–Pirojpur regional highway. Witnesses and officials stated that the Dhaka-bound bus from Pirojpur lost control while trying to make way for another vehicle. A front tire reportedly burst during the maneuver, causing the vehicle to plunge into the roadside ditch.

Local residents, police, and Fire Service personnel launched an immediate rescue operation. The injured were rushed to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital and Tungipara Upazila Health Complex.

Shiplu Ahmed, Deputy Assistant Director of Gopalganj Fire Service, confirmed that no fatalities have been reported. While a few passengers sustained serious injuries, officials stated that most are currently out of danger. The situation at the site is now under control.
