The government has raised the price of bottled soybean oil by Tk 4 per litre, setting the new rate at Tk 199, up from Tk 195.

Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir announced the decision on Wednesday (April 29) after a meeting on edible oil prices at the Ministry of Commerce.

Under the revised rates, a five-litre bottle will cost Tk 1,040, while loose soybean oil has been set at Tk 179 per litre.

The minister said the adjustment was made in line with changes in the global market. He added that the government is monitoring supply to ensure stability and prevent disruptions in the edible oil market.

The new prices take effect immediately.
