


Patuakhali Science and Technology University (PSTU) has appointed Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal as the new head of the Economics and Sociology Department.
The announcement was made via an office order signed on 6 November 2025 by the university’s Acting Registrar, Professor Dr. Md. Iktiar Uddin. As per the order, Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal will serve a three-year term following the conclusion of the previous chairman’s tenure, Professor Dr. Md. Sujahangir Kabir Sarker.
According to the office order, the new chairman is expected to fulfill his responsibilities in line with PSTU’s established laws and regulations and will receive financial and other benefits in accordance with university policies. The administration retains the authority to amend or modify this order if deemed necessary. Simultaneously, Prof. Dr. Md. Sujahangir Kabir Sarker was officially acknowledged for his dedicated service. Speaking about his new role, Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal expressed, “I am thankful to the university administration for trusting me with the leadership of the Economics and Sociology Department. My aim is to ensure that the department operates efficiently, smoothly, and transparently. I look forward to the cooperation of all esteemed faculty members, officers, and students.”
Former chairman Prof. Dr. Sujahangir Kabir Sarker commented, “The Economics and Sociology Department is among the most significant departments at the university. Its faculty members teach courses across nearly all other faculties, including Business Administration. The department also actively manages Master’s and PhD programs.”
He conveyed his sincere congratulations and best wishes to Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal and added, “I trust that with the support of all faculty and colleagues, he will lead the department effectively, utilizing his skills, experience, and leadership to foster its development. Significantly, Prof. Dr. Anup Kumar Mondal has been a dedicated faculty member of the department for many years, contributing greatly to both research and academic advancement.
