Dhaka has formally described the recent comments made by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh regarding Bangladesh's Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, as "incorrect," "unhelpful," and "not respectful of propriety and diplomatic nicety."

The Foreign Ministry's Spokesperson, S M Mahbubul Alam, issued the reaction after Singh, in an interview with an Indian media group, urged Bangladesh's Interim Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus to "watch his words" while emphasizing that India does not seek a rift with Bangladesh.

Responding to the issue, Spokesperson Alam reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to a strong relationship with India based on "sovereign equality, non-interference in each other's affairs, and mutual respect."

Dhaka stressed that differences in perspectives between the two friendly nations are best resolved through "constructive and respectful engagement."
