Pakistan Navy Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf arrived in Bangladesh today for a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening professional collaboration and cooperation between the navies of the two nations.
Upon his arrival, Admiral Ashraf was welcomed by Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hassan and received a guard of honour from a Bangladesh Navy contingent.
Later, the Pakistan Navy Chief paid a courtesy call on Admiral Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters in Banani, Dhaka. The two chiefs exchanged greetings and discussed matters concerning training and professional collaboration. The meeting was attended by senior officials and delegations from both navies, as well as the Pakistan high commissioner and defence attaché.
Earlier in the day, Admiral Ashraf laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban in Dhaka Cantonment to pay homage to the members of the armed forces who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1971 Liberation War.
During his stay, the Pakistan Navy Chief is also scheduled to meet the Chief of Air Staff, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, the Commandant of the National Defence College, and naval administrative authorities in Chattogram.
The visit coincides with the four-day goodwill visit of the Pakistan Navy ship PNS Saif, which arrived in Chattogram yesterday.
The ship's commanding officer, officers, and crew will visit the Bangladesh Naval Academy and other places of interest. Members of the Bangladesh Navy will also visit PNS Saif for professional exchange and experience sharing. Both Admiral Naveed Ashraf and PNS Saif are scheduled to depart Bangladesh on November 12.
