Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul today stated there is no room for confusion regarding the upcoming parliamentary election, confirming the interim government's commitment to holding the polls in early February.
Dr. Nazrul firmly stated, "There is no issue to delay the election. It will definitely be held on time."
He assured that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure a "festive and peaceful atmosphere" during the polls, with need-based steps to enhance the election environment.
He attributed public confusion to political parties making remarks to exert pressure on each other.
The Adviser acknowledged a level of anxiety among the people, noting the significance of the upcoming election as "no national election has been held in the past 16 to 17 years." He emphasized that more than five crore people are "eagerly waiting to exercise their voting rights."
Referring to the judicial system, Dr. Nazrul clarified that granting bail depends not only on the judges but also on the police report. While bail is permissible for eligible persons, he stressed the need for special caution in cases where the individual might repeat the offense or join outlawed groups upon release.
He detailed steps to infuse dynamism into court activities, including the appointment of more judges. In some courts, three judges are being assigned where previously only one was available, aiming to reduce the workload and benefit the public.
Dr. Asif Nazrul made these remarks after a views-exchange meeting with judges at the Legal Aid Office in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court Building.
