Law Adviser Professor Dr. Asif Nazrul announced that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus will make the final decision regarding the implementation of the National Consensus Commission's recommendations, including the option of a referendum.
The final choice on the consensus proposals rests with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
The Council of Advisers reviewed two main proposals from the Consensus Commission are Issuing the Charter, organizing a referendum, and automatically amending the constitution if the results are not implemented within 270 days of the new parliament's formation. Dr. Nazrul noted this proposal requires checking for historical or legal precedent and Leaving the entire matter of implementing the recommendations to the next elected parliament.
The Law Adviser highlighted that sharp disagreement still exists among political parties regarding which proposal to adopt, despite 270 days of dialogue.
The lack of full consensus among parties creates a "challenge" for the current government on how to proceed. A consensus among parties, similar to the "uprising time," would significantly ease the government's path.
Professor Asif Nazrul reiterated that the next parliamentary elections must be held in February next year.
