Measles Symptoms Claim 6 More Lives; 1,063 New Cases Reported

Six more children have died with measles symptoms in Bangladesh over the last 24 hours, while 1,063 children were newly affected by measles or measles-like symptoms during the same period.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared the updated data in a report released on Sunday (August 9) afternoon.

According to the report, while six children died showing symptoms of measles in the past 24 hours, no child was confirmed to have died directly from confirmed measles during this timeframe.

With these latest figures, a total of 775 children have died with measles symptoms across the country since March 15. Additionally, 98 children have died from confirmed measles cases. This brings the total number of deaths from measles and measles-like symptoms to 873 during this period.

Furthermore, 75 children were diagnosed with confirmed measles in the last 24 hours, while 988 patients were reported with symptoms. During this period, 938 children were newly admitted to hospitals, and 942 children were discharged following treatment.

DGHS data further reveals that from March 15 to date, the total number of suspected measles cases has reached 136,320, with 17,115 confirmed cases.

Out of these, a total of 118,382 patients were admitted to hospitals, of whom 114,142 have successfully recovered and returned home.
