Tarique Rahman Visits Cox’s Bazar Chattogram to Inspect Projects and Lead Flood Relief

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram today Sunday (9 August) marking his first official tour to these coastal districts since taking office following the 13th National Parliamentary Election .

The Prime Minister will travel by helicopter from the capital to Matarbari in Maheshkhali Cox's Bazar as confirmed by Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony.

During the morning, Prime Minister Rahman will inspect the landmark Matarbari Deep Sea Port the local coal-fired power project, and the activities of the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Authority (MIDA). He will then travel to Baharchhara Union in Banshkhali to join a rehabilitation programme for families affected by the recent floods.

In the afternoon the Prime Minister will arrive in Fatikchhari upazila to pay a courtesy visit to Allama Shah Muhibbullah Babunagari at the Babunagar Madrasa and visit the grave of the late Allama Shah Ahmad Shafi. Following a brief rest in Hathazari, he will attend another flood rehabilitation initiative at Hathazari Government College.

To conclude his visit he will participate in an organisational meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Chattogram before returning to Dhaka tonight. This tour highlights the new government's focus on fast-tracking major infrastructure projects and supporting flood-affected communities in the region.
