Pakistan has approved the import of fresh pineapples from Bangladesh, opening a new opportunity for Bangladeshi agricultural exporters.
The Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad announced the development in a press release on Friday, August 7.
According to the mission, the approval follows several years of communication and coordination among the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad, the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi, the Department of Agricultural Extension, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant Pakistani agencies.
Bangladeshi pineapples are reportedly in demand in Pakistan. The new market access is expected to create opportunities to expand exports of other Bangladeshi agricultural products and fruits to Pakistan as well.
The development could also help strengthen bilateral trade and commercial ties between the two countries, particularly in the agricultural sector.
