Rooppur to Add 300 MW to National Grid Soon Says Minister Fakir Mahbub Anam

Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam said 300 MW of electricity will soon be added to the national grid from the Rooppur nuclear power plant also calling it a landmark project driven by the combined efforts of scientists and contractors.

He made the comments as chief guest at the day-long "Robofusion 1.0" National Robotics Festival, organized by the University of Frontier Technology, Bangladesh (UFTB) at Kaliakoir Hi-Tech Park, Gazipur on Saturday.

Addressing questions on preventing brain drain, the minister said the government wants talented young Bangladeshis abroad to return home, adding, "We do not want to see brain drain."

The event was presided over by UFTB Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Moktar Ali, with Gazipur-1 MP Md. Mojibur Rahman and ICT Department Secretary Md. Mamunur Rashid Bhuiyan attending as special guests.

More than 550 students from 166 teams participated, showcasing innovations across five categories: line-following robots, robo soccer, techathon, project showcase and boat racing.
