PM Tarique Rahman to Visit Chittagong for Flood Relief

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will make a one-day official visit to Chittagong this Sunday August 9 prioritizing flood rehabilitation efforts and key political engagements.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary spans Banshkhali, Fatikchhari, and Hathazari upazilas. Centering public welfare he will officially hand over new homes and rehabilitation assistance to families devastated by the recent floods in Banshkhali and Hathazari.

In Fatikchhari, the Prime Minister is scheduled for a courtesy meeting with Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Ameer Shah Muhibullah Babunagri at the Al-Jamiatul Islamia Azizul Ulum Babunagri Madrasa. He will subsequently visit the Al-Jamiatul Ahlia Darul Ulum Muinul Islam Madrasa in Hathazari.

Local administration and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) have completed extensive preparations. Over 100 welcome archways have been erected along the Chittagong-Khagrachari regional highway. Supporters plan to form a human chain from the temporary helipad to Nazirhat Notun Bridge, which may cause temporary local traffic disruptions.

Fatikchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sayeed Mohammad Ibrahim and Chittagong-2 MP Sarwar Alamgir confirmed that all government and party security protocols are firmly in place for the high-profile visit.

The trip will conclude Sunday evening at the Radisson Blu Bay View Hotel, where the Prime Minister will hold a strategic view-exchange meeting with Chittagong Metropolitan North and South district BNP leaders before returning to Dhaka.
