Police recovered a cannabis plant from an abandoned homestead in Bishnupur village, Faridpur union, Sadullapur upazila, Gaibandha during a raid on Saturday around 11:30 am.
The property belongs to Jelal Mia, son of the late Moslem Mia, who has been living in Bogra with his family for a long time, leaving the house empty. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Sadullapur police station OC AKM Habibul Islam raided the homestead and found a fresh cannabis plant growing inside. The plant was seized and taken to the police station. No arrests have been made so far.
Since the house has remained unoccupied, locals have raised questions about how the plant came to grow there. Police are investigating who planted it and whether others are involved.
OC AKM Habibul Islam confirmed the recovery, saying the matter is under investigation and legal action will follow. Locals hope the operation will lead to stronger anti-drug efforts in the area.
