Two Drug Dealers Held with 533 Yaba Tablets in Habiganj’s Lakhai

Police arrested two drug dealers with 533 Yaba tablets during a special anti-drug operation in Lakhai upazila, Habiganj on Saturday. The arrests were made around 5:10 am from Girendra Market in Bulla Road Bazar.

Along with the Yaba tablets, police recovered Tk 1,500 in cash from drug sales and a motorcycle used for transporting the drugs.

The arrested individuals were identified as Md. Juton Mia (38), son of Azam Ali of Purba Bulla village and Md. Naeem Hossain alias Akash (28), son of Md. Gajan Mia of Madhya Singhagram.

According to police, the operation was conducted based on secret information under the guidance of the Habiganj Superintendent of Police and led by Lakhai Police Station OC Sharif Ahmed. Sources said both men had long been directly involved in drug trafficking in the area.

OC Sharif Ahmed confirmed the arrests also saying a case is being filed against the accused under the Narcotics Control Act with further legal action underway.
