PM Expresses Desire to Work Alongside Islamic Scholars to Build the Nation

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has emphasized the need for unity, stating that just as everyone worked together before the election, all must remain united in the task of nation-building.

The Prime Minister made these remarks on Sunday (August 9) afternoon during an exchange of views meeting held at Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari.

Fulfilling a promise made before the election to Islamic scholars (Aleem-Ulama), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited Babunagar Madrasa in Fatikchhari and met with Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Amir Allama Shah Mohibullah Babunagari.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said, "I had promised Huzoor before the election that I would visit. By the grace of Allah, we have formed the government. Today, Allah has blessed me with the opportunity to come and meet my beloved Huzoor."

He further noted that with the support of Islamic scholars during the last election, it was possible to save the country from danger. However, he cautioned that the nation's problems are not yet over, pointing out that during the previous government's tenure, national resources and wealth were looted and laundered abroad, forcing the public to suffer the consequences today.

Regarding the current gas and electricity shortages, the Prime Minister attributed the problem to unplanned work in the past. He expressed hope that the ongoing gas issue would significantly ease within the next five to seven days.

"We want to build a Bangladesh where the people and children of this country can earn a livelihood, live in peace, practice their respective religions, and coexist harmoniously," he said.

He added that ensuring a peaceful environment in the country would encourage both local and foreign investors, thereby creating employment opportunities and improving the living standards of the people.

Calling on everyone to remain united against recent attempts by various quarters to create confusion and chaos, the Prime Minister urged, "Just as we worked together before the election, we must stay together after the election to build the nation." He highlighted the government's primary goals, including providing healthcare, education, and employment, as well as developing essential infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, colleges, madrasas, roads, bridges, and culverts to ensure peace for the public.

Describing the Islamic scholars as associates of the government, he stated, "You are not directly in the government, but you serve as associates of the government. The responsibility of guiding the people on the right path and steering the country forward correctly does not rest solely on the government."

Earlier, as part of his tour of Cox's Bazar and Chattogram districts, BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Fatikchhari Upazila by helicopter from Banshkhali at 3:20 PM on Sunday. When his helicopter landed at the Pelagazi Dighi field in Fatikchhari, waiting crowds welcomed him warmly. The Prime Minister responded to their enthusiasm by waving to the cheering crowd.
