


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Matarbari coal-fired power plant in Cox's Bazar today reviewing major infrastructure developments before heading to ongoing disaster recovery zones.
Arriving by helicopter at 10:50 a.m. the Prime Minister toured the power project and held a review meeting with facility officials. Accompanied by Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, State Minister for Power Anindya Islam Amit, and local representatives he also inspected the operational progress of the Matarbari deep sea port and the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Project.
Following the infrastructure tour the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit the recently flood-affected areas of Banshkhali and Hathazari. Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed that the Prime Minister will distribute the keys to newly constructed homes to rehabilitate families displaced by the floods.
