An orientation event took place at GAU for students from 13 universities.

The orientation was organized for newly admitted students in the MS and PhD programs for the Autumn 2025 session, representing a total of 13 esteemed universities across the nation, including those specializing in agriculture.

This orientation, brimming with the aspirations and excitement of 66 MS and 10 PhD newcomers, occurred at the university's old auditorium at 9:30 am on Sunday. The participating universities included Bangladesh Agricultural University, Rajshahi University, Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Bangladesh Maritime University, Haji Mohammad Danesh University of Science and Technology, Jessore University of Science and Technology, Patuakhali University of Science and Technology, along with other institutions related to agriculture and technology. The event was chaired by the Director (Student Welfare) of the university, Professor Dr. Mohammad Sharif Raihan. The vibrant orientation was honored by the presence of the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor of GKRU, Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman. Pro-VC Professor Dr. M. Mainul Haque and Treasurer Professor Dr. Md. Shafiul Islam Afrad attended as special guests. Faculty deans, directors, educators, and staff were also in attendance.

At the start of the program, the university's registrar, Md. Abdullah Mridha, welcomed everyone with a speech. He provided a brief overview of the university's academic legacy and research capabilities. Following this, an engaging introduction session took place between the students and the attendees. Subsequently, the new students shared their thoughts and aspirations. Their ambitions for the future, commitment to advancing research, and resolve to contribute to the nation's agricultural progress were clearly articulated in their voices.

University Proctor Professor Dr. Mohammad Saiful Alam provided guidance to students regarding discipline, responsibility, and moral values. Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Hall Provost Professor Dr. Mohammad Nazmul Hasan shared information about the management and regulations of the residential hall.

Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Md. Ramiz Uddin Miah, elaborated on the structure and policies governing higher education and research initiatives.

Following the addresses from other guests, the highlight of the program was the speech delivered by the Vice-Chancellor. In welcoming the new researchers of GACRU, which ranked first among all public and private universities in the nation, the Vice-Chancellor remarked, “To contribute to the agricultural science of the country, dedication is essential.” He further stated, “Education transcends mere lessons; it encompasses character development, critical thinking, and humanity. A genuine researcher is one whose work illuminates pathways for societal change.”

In the concluding segment of the program, a dialogue took place between the guests and the students. Subsequently, the freshmen toured various faculties, laboratories, and facilities of the university. The entire event was a source of inspiration, harmonizing academic excellence with a call for humanitarian responsibility, embodying an unwavering commitment to shaping the future of sustainable agriculture in Bangladesh through research.
