


Following a violent clash between two BNP factions during a "Revolution and Solidarity Day" program on November 7 in Boalmari, Faridpur, police have filed two separate cases under the Explosive Substances Act.
The total number of accused in both cases is 876 people, including 126 named individuals and hundreds of unnamed others. However, the police station's Officer-in-Charge, Md. Mahamudul Hasan, confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, though operations are ongoing. The accused list includes two former MPs and rival party nomination aspirants from the Faridpur-1 constituency: former MP and freedom fighter Shah Mohammad Abu Zafar and Krishak Dal central vice-president Khandaker Nasirul Islam, alongside another aspirant, Shamsuddin Mia Jhunu.
The cases filed represent the deep factional rivalry are Plaintiff Mujibur Rahman (Jhunu supporter) named 188 people, primarily targeting Khandaker Nasirul Islam over alleged attacks and the burning of 18-20 motorcycles and the other one Plaintiff Advocate Sirajul Islam (Nasirul supporter) named 38 people, with Upazila BNP Vice President Shamsuddin Mia Jhunu as the main accused and former MP Shah Md. Abu Zafar as the second accused, alleging they disrupted their program and incited violence.
The clash, which reportedly involved firearms, Chinese axes, and domestic weapons, resulted in the vandalism of the party office of one faction, 15 motorcycles set ablaze, and at least 50 workers injured.
