A fisherman was electrocuted to death on Saturday morning after coming into contact with an improperly installed power line at a shrimp enclosure in Koyasi Bunia village, Chandkhali Union.
The deceased, identified as Iman Morol (40), was a resident of Ghazalia village and the sole breadwinner for his family.
Local sources report that the enclosure owner, Iqbal Haji, had extended an electrical line using a fragile bamboo pole to light the area at night. While fishing with a net under a wage contract, Iman Morol slipped from the embankment and became entangled in the low-hanging wire. The shock rendered him unconscious immediately.
Co-workers and locals rushed him to the Paikgachha Upazila Health Complex, where the attending physician pronounced him dead at 12:25 PM.
The body has been returned to the family home in Ghazalia. Police confirmed they are aware of the incident and stated that legal proceedings are currently underway.
