Authorities dismantled an illegal factory producing synthetic milk during a raid at the residence of a local politician in Chatmohar, Pabna, on Saturday afternoon.
Acting on a tip-off from the National Security Intelligence (NSI), a team led by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury raided the house of Abdul Momen in Notabaria village. Momen is the former organizing secretary of the Union Nationalist Farmers' Party.
During the operation, officials seized 12 drums of hazardous jelly, a soybean oil-like liquid, and a large quantity of counterfeit milk. While Momen remains at large, his father, Abdul Aziz, was arrested on-site for his alleged involvement in the production process.
According to administration sources, the factory had been using toxic chemicals to manufacture fake milk for an extended period. A case has been filed with the Chatmohar Police Station against six individuals, including Momen, his wife, and his father. The raid was supported by NSI Joint Director Taufiq Iqbal and Deputy Director ABM Lutful Kabir.
