A family in Muksudpur upazila of Gopalganj has alleged that a building is being constructed on disputed ancestral land despite a permanent injunction issued by the High Court. The family demanded an immediate halt to the construction and legal action against those involved.

The allegations were made at a press conference held on Friday evening (May 8) at the family’s business establishment near Komlapur Bridge in Muksudpur municipality. Victim Nitai Prasad Das presented a written statement.

According to the statement, 59 decimals of land under Plot No. 2156 of Khatian No. 915 in Mouza Komlapur were originally purchased from Dulal Das through a registered deed on January 26, 1980. Later, on June 25, 2012, Nitai Prasad Das’s mother transferred the property to him.

However, during the land record process, the property was allegedly recorded in the name of his elder brother, Mahendra Prasad Das.

Nitai Prasad Das claimed that after Mahendra Prasad Das died, his son Sukanta Das inherited the property and later gave an irrevocable power of attorney to his brother-in-law Krishna Gopal Basu to sell the land. He alleged that portions of the disputed land were later sold through that authority.

He further said that following a legal dispute, the High Court issued a permanent injunction on March 2, 2026. Despite the order, construction of a permanent structure is allegedly continuing on the disputed property.

At the press conference, Gouri Rani Das, wife of Nitai Prasad Das, said she received 10 decimals of the same land on April 13, 2026, through ancestral and maternal ownership rights registered at the Muksudpur Registry Office.

She alleged that after Krishna Gopal Basu sold part of the land to Jagadish Chandra Mridha and Aloka Rani Biswas of Dighra village, construction work began on land currently under her possession.

Claiming that the construction is causing damage to her occupied property, she urged the authorities to intervene and stop the work immediately.

Journalists from local and national media outlets attended the press conference.
