A mobile court fined M/s. Nahar Filling Station 20,000 Taka on Friday afternoon for defrauding customers by providing less fuel than purchased.
The drive was led by Porsha Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Rakibul Islam at the Saraigachi intersection. Acting on specific complaints that the station was short-measuring diesel, the magistrate conducted a field verification and found the allegations to be true.
The station was penalized under the Weights and Measures Act, 2018 and the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.
"We found clear evidence of consumer fraud," stated UNO Rakibul Islam. "The station was instructed to immediately repair their dispensing equipment and adhere strictly to government regulations. Our monitoring will continue, and strict action will be taken against any establishment found short-measuring or hoarding fuel."
Porsha Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ziaur Rahman and other law enforcement personnel assisted during the operation.
