


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet on a one-day visit on Saturday (May 2). His flight landed at Osmani International Airport around 10:00 am, confirmed Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon.
He was received at the airport by Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muttadir, Labour and Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Qayyum Chowdhury, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Mashiur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam, and other senior officials.
From the airport, the Prime Minister went directly to visit the Hazrat Shah Jalal (R.) Shrine. He is also scheduled to visit the Hazrat Shah Paran (R.) Shrine in Khadim Nagar.
According to the Additional Press Secretary, the Prime Minister is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman. After completing the day’s , including a canal excavation and sports development programme, he will return to Dhaka at night.
Following the shrine visits, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of a Sylhet City Corporation project to address waterlogging at Chandni Ghat at 11:00 am and attend a welcome rally.
Later, at 12:00 pm, he will inaugurate the Baisha River re-excavation programme in Kashipur Union under Sadar Upazila.
