Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser has extended vital support to a struggling family in Gandab village under Kashipur union of Narail’s Lohagara upazila.
The UNO assured the family of immediate personal financial aid as well as government assistance, including four bundles of corrugated tin for their home.
On Tuesday (June 16) morning, the family of Hakim Sikder visited the upazila office to share their plight with UNO Shammi Kaiser. Hakim, the former breadwinner of the five-member family, has been paralyzed for four years. His 15-year-old son was born with a disability, and his two other children are very young. Currently, Hakim’s wife, Babita Begum, supports the family by working as a domestic helper.
Expressing her gratitude, Babita Begum said, "I never imagined the UNO would stand by us like this. She has assured us of all possible help. She is truly a humane person, and our family is deeply indebted to her. I pray for her well-being."
Regarding the initiative, UNO Shammi Kaiser stated, "I have simply fulfilled my duty. I hope to continue standing by helpless people in this way."
