


Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Sylhet on Wednesday morning before departing for Moulvibazar by road for a one-day official visit.
His US-Bangla Airlines flight from Dhaka landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 10:15 am. Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury confirmed the Prime Minister's arrival and subsequent departure by motorcade.
A delegation of senior officials and party leaders welcomed the premier at the airport. The group included Expatriates' Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, National Assembly Whip G.K. Gaus, Deputy Commissioner Sarwar Alam, and several local lawmakers and regional development chairs.
According to the Prime Minister’s Press Wing, the central focus of the trip is the inauguration of a regional social safety initiative. At 1:00 pm, the Prime Minister will launch a family card distribution program at the Victoria High School grounds in Sreemangal, providing cards to 155 families from Mirzapur Union.
At 2:30 pm, he will attend a similar event at the Moulvibazar Government High School grounds to distribute cards to 152 families from Tengra Union in Rajnagar.
Following a brief afternoon stay at Dusai Resort, the Prime Minister will return to Sylhet by road and fly back to Dhaka at 8:30 pm.
Local political leaders noted this is his second visit to Sylhet since assuming office, following his initial trip on May 2. Party workers and allied organizations across the Sylhet and Moulvibazar districts have completed all preparations to ensure the visit runs smoothly.
