


Heroic freedom fighter Habibur Rahman was laid to rest with full state honours at his native village of Baichondi in Jhalakathi’s Nalchiti municipality on Wednesday morning.
The local administration paid tribute to his heroic contributions during the 1971 Liberation War, presenting a formal guard of honour at 10:00 am.
Nalchiti Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rizvi Ahmed Sabuj, former Kulkathi Union Chairman and Freedom Fighter Deputy Commander Md. Rafiqul Islam Mollah, along with hundreds of people from all walks of life, attended the ceremony to pay their final respects.
Following the state tribute, his Namaz-e-Janaza (funeral prayer) was led by Maulana Md. Abdul Quddus, Assistant Superintendent of Hobatpur Toukathi Dakhil Madrasa. Rahman was subsequently buried in his family graveyard.
Local representatives, political leaders, fellow freedom fighters, and relatives paid their deepest respects and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Habibur Rahman passed away on Tuesday, June 16, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka. His death has cast a shadow of grief across the Nalchiti area.
