Amid heavy rain in Sylhet, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the Hazrat Shahjalal (RA) shrine on Saturday, May 2.
He arrived at Sylhet Osmani Airport at 10:05 a.m. and went directly to the shrine in the city’s Dargagate area. The Prime Minister offered prayers for the country’s peace and prosperity.
He was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman. Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury was also present.
Despite the storm, thousands of residents lined the roads to welcome him. Tarique Rahman greeted party leaders, workers, and the public along the way.
After the shrine visit, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for a Sylhet City Corporation project to address waterlogging at Chandni Ghat. He also participated in other local programs, including canal excavation initiatives and the Notun Kuri Sports event.
