The 40th Abhishek (consecration) anniversary of Sri Sri Siddheshwari Kalimata was observed with religious solemnity on the full moon of Baisakh.
The festivities began Friday (May 1) at 10:00 AM with the ceremonial installation of the Mangal Ghat. Temple priest Sukanta Chatterjee Biplob inaugurated the event amidst traditional music. Key attendees included Kishore Roy, convener of the celebration committee Member Secretary Pradeep Chowdhury; and Matuacharya Asim Pal, President of the Narail Matua Mission.
By early afternoon, the temple grounds surged with energy as 15 Matua groups arrived. The air filled with the rhythmic beat of Jay Dhak and chants of "Haribol," marking a peak in the spiritual atmosphere.
According to Kishore Roy, this tradition began four decades ago through the initiative of the late Ajay Kanti Majumdar and local community leaders. What started as a local ritual has now evolved into a major cultural and religious landmark for the region. The day concluded with the distribution of Prasad and a traditional village fair (Mela) featuring local stalls.
