The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has launched a free seed and fertilizer distribution program for 1,560 small and marginal farmers in Narail’s Lohagara upazila to boost crop production during the Kharip-2 season.
The initiative was inaugurated on Thursday (June 25) at 10:00 am at the local Farmers Training Hallroom.
Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shammi Kaiser presided over the inauguration. Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Munmun Saha delivered the welcome address, outlining the goals of the agricultural incentive program.
To encourage high-yielding crop cultivation, each of the 1,560 selected farmers—drawn from 12 unions and one municipality—received 5 kg of high-yielding (Ufshi) Ropa Aman paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertilizer, and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer. This allocation is designed to support the cultivation of one bigha of land per farmer.
The event saw attendance from various local political figures and community leaders, including Narail District Jamaat Working Committee Member Maulana Alamgir Hossain, Upazila BNP Acting President Md. Hemayet Hossain, and Municipal BNP Acting President Molla Nazrul Islam, among others.
Following the speeches, UNO Shammi Kaiser formally handed over the agricultural materials to the farmers.
Several DAE officials, including Agriculture Extension Officer Sheikh Salman Zaman and multiple Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers, were present alongside local journalists and farmers to ensure the smooth distribution of the incentives.
