Police recovered the body of a fisherman from the Arial Khan River in Bhanga, Faridpur, on Friday afternoon, three days after he went missing.
The deceased, identified as Nirmal Malo (60), was a resident of Gharua village. According to family sources, Nirmal left home with his fishing nets on the morning of April 29 but never returned. His wife, Rina Malo, had previously filed a general diary (GD) with the Bhanga Police Station.
Locals spotted the body floating near the Darga Bazar area of Nasirabad Union and alerted the authorities.
"On Friday afternoon, we recovered the body from the river after being notified by local residents," said Mashiur Rahman, Sub-Inspector of Bhanga Police Station.
While the family has alleged foul play and demanded justice, police are awaiting medical confirmation. The body is scheduled to be sent to the Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy on Saturday. Officials stated that further legal action will be taken based on the autopsy report and any formal complaints filed by the family.
