Police have recovered the hanging body of a housewife, Josna Biswas (45), in Sadarpur upazila of Faridpur, three days after she left home carrying gold ornaments.
The body was found on Friday (May 1) afternoon hanging from a branch of a gab tree near a pond beside Sikder’s house in Char Bishnupur village. Locals informed police, who later recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
According to family members and police sources, Josna left her home around 2:30 pm on April 28 with approximately three and a half bhoris of gold, heading toward Sadarpur. When she did not return, the family began searching. On Friday morning, her daughter Sadhana Biswas and son Amit Biswas filed a general diary (GD No. 1308) with Sadarpur Police Station.
Police and local sources said two children first spotted the body hanging from the tree and alerted others. Residents then confirmed the incident and notified authorities.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Afzal Hossain of Sadarpur Police Station said the body was recovered and sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. “The exact cause of death will be known after the autopsy report. Legal procedures are ongoing,” he added.
The incident has raised concerns among locals, as questions remain over whether the death was a suicide or a planned.
