A Russian national employed at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project (RNPP) died on Friday evening while exercising at his residence in Ishwardi, Pabna.

The deceased, identified as Churkin Vladimir, was an employee of Atomtech Energo, a subsidiary of the Russian state nuclear corporation, Rosatom. Vladimir resided at the Notunhat Green City housing complex, specifically built for project officials.

According to witnesses, Vladimir suddenly fell ill during his exercise routine on May 1. He was rushed to the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Initial medical assessments suggest a cardiac arrest as the cause of death. Preliminary examinations found no signs of external injury on the body.

Asadur Rahman, confirming the incident, stated that the body has been sent to the Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue. "The exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy. We are completing the necessary legal formalities to repatriate the body to Russia," he added.
