


The first secondary level English Debate Competition Finals and English Language Festival were held in Boalmari, Faridpur, under the theme “We speak, we learn, we overcome”.
The competition and festival were organized at the Boalmari Upazila Parishad Conference Room on Monday (October 27) afternoon. Boalmari Government Girls High School and Sahasrail Pilot High School participated in the final phase of the debate. Boalmari Government Girls High School won the final competition and Mushfika Khan Shashi, an eighth grade student of that school, was selected as the best debater.
On the same day, English Language Clubs of 16 schools of the upazila presented various exhibitions highlighting the importance of English language education in the Upazila Parishad premises. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla visited these exhibition stalls and appreciated the initiative of the students.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Molla was present as the chief guest at the event. He said, “Debates increase the thinking power and confidence of the students. Such events help in developing students as creative and leadership-minded people.” He also said, “Initiatives will be taken to organize such competitions in every upazila.” Later, he distributed prizes to the winners and participants and educational materials to the general students.
Boalmari Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Tanvir Hasan Chowdhury presided over the event, which was also attended by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Shibbir Ahmed, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Md. Jalal Uddin Ahmed, Agriculture Officer Alvir Rahman, Boalmari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmudul Hasan and various government officials of the upazila, teachers, journalists and students.
