Youth arrested with cocktails and explosives in Faridpur

Joint forces have arrested a youth named Shamim bin Ismail (24) with cocktails, bomb-making equipment and drugs in Boalmari, Faridpur. Two cases have been filed against the arrested person under the Explosives and Narcotics Act. The accused has been shown arrested and sent to court.

In a joint operation on Tuesday (December 16) early morning, the army and police arrested Shamim from his house in the Sotashi Momin Market area of Ward No. 4 of the municipality. Several cocktail bombs, explosives and drugs were recovered from his house during the operation.

According to army sources, on Tuesday morning, intelligence sources informed that Shamim, a resident of Sotashi Momin Morkat area of Boalmari upazila, was preparing homemade cocktail bombs in his house and had them stored in his house. Based on that information, a joint operation was conducted under the leadership of the Boalmari army camp in coordination with the local police station. Shamim was arrested from his house during the operation. During this time, three cocktail bombs, two packets of explosive powder, 49 yaba tablets, yaba consumption equipment and various bomb-making materials were recovered from his house. The arrested person has been handed over to Boalmari Police Station along with the seized evidence. The process of filing a case against him under the Narcotics Control Act and the relevant laws related to the manufacture and storage of explosives is underway. Shamim is also involved in the local yaba trade and motorcycle hijacking, according to the operation sources.

According to army sources, the army has a zero tolerance policy against illegal weapons, explosives, drugs and terrorist activities. Such operations will continue to ensure public safety and everyone has been urged to provide information to the law enforcement agencies about suspicious activities.

Confirming the matter, Boalmari Police Station OC Md. Anwar Hossain said that two separate cases have been filed at the police station under the Narcotics Control Act and the Explosives Manufacturing Act in this incident. The arrested accused has been sent to court after being arrested.
