A new regional office of the National University (NU) was formally inaugurated in Faridpur on Thursday morning. The office, located near the city’s new bus stand, aims to decentralize administrative services for the region.
The inauguration ceremony was presided over by National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah. High-profile guests included State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid, MP, alongside Shahidul Islam Babul, MP, and Nayak Yusuf, MP.
During the event, speakers highlighted that the new office will significantly reduce the long-standing commute and administrative hurdles faced by students, teachers, and college officials. Services such as certificate issuance, data correction, and general academic inquiries will now be accessible locally.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amanullah emphasized that the NU is committed to bringing services directly to the students’ doorsteps, noting that this branch will specifically benefit educational institutions across the southern districts.
Chief Guest Shama Obaid stated that the office is part of a broader government initiative to modernize the education system. She also noted the government's commitment to women's empowerment, highlighting that under the current leadership of Tarique Rahman, female education has been made tuition-free up to the graduation level.
"Our responsibility is to work for all citizens, regardless of political affiliation," she added. The ceremony concluded with the attendance of local dignitaries and representatives from various educational institutions.
