A tragic road accident in Sunamganj early Friday claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter and injured at least 10 others.

The fatal crash occurred around 5:30 am in the Inatnagar area of Shantiganj upazila. The deceased were identified as Manjura Akhter (37) and her daughter Ayesha Siddika (10), the wife and daughter of Abdullah Al Mamun, an officer of the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC).

The victims were among a group of 11 BCIC officials and their families traveling from Dhaka on a Senjuti Travels bus for a trip to Tanguar Haor.

According to police and witnesses, the bus driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to skid off the road, fall into a roadside ditch, and overturn. Manjura Akhter and her daughter died instantly after being crushed by the bus.

Locals immediately rushed to the scene to rescue the injured, who were later taken to the Shantiganj Upazila Health Complex. Police and Fire Service teams launched a recovery operation, finding the bus overturned in the ditch.
