


A truck helper was killed and a driver injured after a speeding truck rammed into a parked vehicle on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Mirsarai early Saturday.
The deceased, identified as Md. Rabiul Hossain (50), was a resident of Mirzapur village in Jhenaidah’s Shailkupa upazila. The identity of the injured driver could not be immediately confirmed.
Police and local sources reported that a truck was parked on the side of the Chittagong-bound lane near a filling station in the Raipur area. At dawn, a speeding truck carrying onions crashed into the rear of the stationary vehicle.
The impact crushed the front of the onion-laden truck, trapping Rabiul inside. He died on the spot. Fire service personnel later recovered his body from the wreckage.
Sharifuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating that the body is currently at the police station. Legal proceedings are underway.
