Schoolgirl’s hanging body recovered in Jhalakathi

Police recovered the body of a schoolgirl from her home in Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila on Monday. The deceased, identified as 13-year-old Sampathi Akhter, was an eighth-grade student at Kirtipasha Prasanna Kumar Secondary School and the daughter of Zakir Hossain from Beldakhan village.

According to family sources, the incident followed a dispute between Sampathi and her mother regarding private tutoring sessions after she returned from school. Shortly after the argument, Sampathi went to her room.

Family members later discovered her hanging and rushed her to Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctor pronounced her dead.

Police have inspected the scene and sent the body for an autopsy. While preliminary findings suggest suicide, Jhalakathi Sadar Police stated that the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the medical report.
