


Detective Branch (DB) police in Chittagong have arrested two individuals with 175 grams of crystal methamphetamine, locally known as “ice,” during a in the Panchlaish area.
The arrests were made on Monday night following a tip-off, according to DB North Division police.
A team led by Inspector Md. Aftab Hossain (Team-31) conducted the raid at a room in the Finley Square building near Gate No. 2 under Panchlaish Police Station. Police said they received information that a group was staying there to sell drugs.
Sensing police presence, two suspects attempted to flee but were detained. Officers later recovered 175 grams of crystal meth from their possession. Police estimate the market value of the seized drugs at around Tk 17.5 lakh.
The arrested individuals are Md. Sajjadul Rahman Shakib (27) and Md. Abu Faisal (26), both from Fatikchhari upazila. They had been living in the city’s Bayezid Bostami and Hathazari areas.
During initial interrogation, the suspects said they collected the drugs through a network linked to expatriate dealers in Fatikchhari and brought them to the city for sale.
Police said a case under the Narcotics Control Act is being processed at the concerned police station.
