The Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal (BNCD) central committee has appointed G.M. Al Mamun Abhi, a native of Satkhira, as the Vice President of the Dhaka Metropolitan West unit. The announcement came via a press release signed by BNCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir on April 4, 2026.

Hailing from Khalilnagar village in Tala Upazila, Abhi is the son of Ayub Ali Gazi and Fatema Begum. Known for his clean image and grassroots connection, Abhi began his political journey in 2008. He previously served as the Vice President of Tala Government College Chhatra Dal in 2014 and held a vice-presidential role in the Dhaka Metropolitan West unit in 2016.

Abhi completed his SSC from Khalilnagar Union Secondary School in 2010 and his HSC from Tala Government College in 2013. He later earned his Master’s degree from Government Titumir College in 2021.

Local activists and followers in Satkhira expressed enthusiasm over the appointment. Following the announcement, Abhi pledged to strengthen the organization’s presence on the streets and uphold its core objectives. Local leaders believe his experienced leadership will play a vital role in organizing the student wing more effectively in the capital.

The newly announced committee includes several other dedicated leaders, aimed at revitalizing student politics within the Dhaka Metropolitan West jurisdiction.
