A coaching center director, Chayan Kumar Rajbhar (35), was stabbed to death in a land dispute in Sariakandi, Bogra, on Friday night. The incident occurred around 9 pm in the market area of Hatfulbari Union.

Chayan Kumar, director of The New Contest Coaching Center and son of Tula Ram Rajbhar of Fulbari Union, was attacked along with his brother Nayan Kumar Rajbhar. Three others were also injured, including Pawan, Hridoy, and the opposing party members Aminul Fakir and Shahin Alam Fakir, all residents of Fulbari Bazar area.

Relatives said the clash was over a longstanding dispute on about 1,000 acres of land in Tetultala, Fulbari. Aminul Fakir and his associates tried to occupy the land, and when Chayan and his family intervened, a violent fight broke out. Chayan and Nayan were stabbed during the attack. Chayan was taken to Sariakandi Upazila Health Complex, where he was declared dead around 9:30 pm. Nayan was transferred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

The deceased’s cousin, Jiban Kumar Rajbhar, said the dispute has been ongoing since 2019. “They came to build another house on our land and take possession. When we stopped them, they attacked. One person died and Nayan is critically injured. Those involved include Shahin Fakir, Johnny, Tarun, Rabbi, Rahat, and a few others. We demand justice,” he said.

Police arrived at the scene and restored order. Aminul Fakir is being treated at Sariakandi Hospital, while Shahin Alam was referred to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.

Both have been taken into police custody. Sariakandi Police Station OC A.F.M. Asaduzzaman confirmed the situation is now under control and said the police are working to arrest others involved.
