A worker working at RNPP died in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Ishwardi. The accident occurred at around 10 pm on Saturday (December 20) in the Alhaj More area of Ishwardi Municipality.
The deceased were identified as Rabbi Hossain (27), son of Shahjahan Ali of Joynagar village in Salimpur union of Ishwardi upazila, and Nishan Munshi (22), son of Golam Rasul Munshi of Maniknagar village in the same union. Both of them were working as workers at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.
According to eyewitnesses and relatives of the deceased, Rabbi and Nishan were returning home from Ishwardi town on a motorcycle on Saturday night. When they arrived at the scene, their motorcycle collided head-on with a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction. Both the people on the motorcycle were seriously injured.
The locals rescued them and first took them to the Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. When the condition deteriorated there, the doctor on duty sent both of them to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Rabbi Hossain died late on Saturday night while undergoing treatment in Rajshahi. And Nishan Munshi died on Sunday morning.
Mominuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station, said that both of them were seriously injured in the road accident. I have learned about their deaths while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. The bodies are at the morgue of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. They will be handed over to their relatives after the legal process. The deadly truck has been seized.
