Various organizations of the Sanatan community in Pabna district have expressed anger and protest over the brutal beating and subsequent burning of Dipu Das' body in Mymensingh. Despite being subjected to torture for a long time, there was no effective intervention by the administration and the state took responsibility for the family of the deceased Dipu Das, as well as demanding the maximum punishment - hanging for the killers.
The protest march started from the Joykalibari temple premises in Pabna city at 12 noon on Sunday (December 21). The procession circled the important Abdul Hamid Road in the city, went around the Judge Court premises, and turned into a human chain and a short road meeting at the Pabna Press Club intersection.
The speakers at the human chain said that the murder of Dipu Das has humiliated not only a family, but the entire humanity. The inaction of the administration is very worrying despite the torture that has been going on for a long time. They expressed their fear that if the culprits are not arrested immediately and given exemplary punishment, the security of the minority community in the country will be further jeopardized.
The program was led by Advocate Malay Das Roy, representative of Bangladesh Hindu Welfare Trust Pabna district, and was attended by Pabna District Puja Celebration Front member secretary Dipankar Sarkar Jitu, Gaurang Majumdar, Somnath Bagchi, Shuvo Majumdar, Saurabh Roy, Ram Prasad Sarkar, Advocate Shishir Kumar Sarkar, Bhaskar Chakraborty, Sanjay Saha, Sanjay Basak, Sajeeb Saha and Prolay Adhikari, among other leaders.
The speakers strongly demanded the government to conduct a proper investigation into the Dipu Das murder, arrest and hang the criminals, and ensure the safety and compensation of the victim's family as soon as possible.
