


Two tons of polythene bags have been confiscated in a collaborative effort by the district administration and the Department of Environment aimed at halting the use and sale of prohibited polythene shopping bags.
The operation took place at Al-Amin Enterprise, located in Anandanagar, Bhelabaz, at the Faridpur district headquarters on Tuesday afternoon.
The operation was spearheaded by Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Md. Atiqur Rahman. In reference to the operation, Executive Magistrate Atiqur Rahman stated that the raid targeted a business involved in the sale and display of banned polythene shopping bags in the Sadar Upazila of the district, initiated by the district administration and the Department of Environment. He reported that around 2,000 kg of prohibited polythene shopping bags were confiscated from Al-Amin Enterprise in Anandanagar. Upon noticing our presence, individuals in the warehouse fled the scene. Present during the operation were Faridpur Environment Department Inspector Md. Jihad Hossain and members of the Ansar Battalion.
Executive Magistrate Atiqur Rahman emphasized that the Department of Environment will persist in conducting such initiatives to curb the sale, display, storage, use, and marketing of banned polythene shopping bags in Faridpur.
